Deer Park personifies downtown Fairfax: shady, level streets without sidewalks, rising into unexpected hills, and lined with small cottages. This is one of the few areas (along with some in Mill Valley, Tiburon, San Anselmo, and Larkspur) where you can walk to a charming downtown. 100+ years ago Fairfax was at the destination at the end of the rail line for warm summer days and nights, dining, dancing in outdoor pavilions, and good times. It is still like this: relaxed and laid back.
Quiet, rural, and close to downtown. Just to the west, over White’s Hill are the villages of West Marin (10 minutes) and Point Reyes National Seashore (25 minutes). The Deer Park Neighborhood is home to many older cottages and lush, tree-lined streets.
