Homes on Belvedere Lagoon were built in the 1950’s, though many have been upgraded or completely rebuilt. Since houses face the water, many streets present views only of garages and shrubbery; we have spared you most of those views of garages while providing an impression of the neighborhood. For more about Belvedere and Tiburon, see the Belvedere and Tiburon pages.

About the Lagoon

The lagoon is a natural lowland between the Tiburon Peninsula and Belvedere Island. It was filled in about 1929, then dredged after WWII to create the present housing sites.  The land was subdivided in about 1950 and lots sold to individual homeowners. Homes were built from the early 50’s till about 1960.

The lagoon covers approximately 66 acre and is surrounded by 261 lots with 232 private residences and 28 duplexes. The water level is regulated and water quality is monitored relative to standards established for water contact sports. Salt water enters the lagoon from the bay, but there is no tidal action in the lagoon.

Location

Entirely within the small Town of Belvedere, the Lagoon community is minutes from downtown Tiburon and the Tiburon Ferry Terminal, and only 3 miles to Hwy. 101.
