West Corte Madera Real Estate
Corte Madera is divided by Highway 101 into two sections, West (Old Corte Madera) and East (Bayside). Some West Corte Madera homes date back to the late 19th century and originated as summer homes for San Francisco families seeking warmer weather. The Old Town Square (Menke Park) sits at the foot of Christmas Tree Hill. The square is built at the site of the former Corte Madera train station. A few of the 19th century buildings surrounding the square include the former hotel and horse barn.
West Corte Madera has hillside and hill top houses with bay and Mount Tamalpais views and groves of redwood and bay trees. Closer to the freeway are large level neighborhoods of ranch style houses, some built around lagoons along the Corte Madera Creek.
Bayside Corte Madera Real Estate
Bayside (East) Corte Madera is set in level neighborhoods along protected Bay marshlands, and on the hills below the Ring Mountain Nature Preserve and Tiburon Open Space. Most homes in east Corte Madera were built from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. Many home buyers appreciate the easy lifestyle in these neighborhoods and have upgraded or rebuilt their houses.
