Tam Valley-Little City Farms
This broad valley west of Highway 1 was marketed to prospective homeowners in 1919 as Little City Farms. The neighborhood boarders the coastal crest of Mount Tamalpais and the Golden Gate Recreational Area. The North Fork of Coyote Creek rolls gently through the valley. In 1910, a farm of 175,000 Eucalyptus trees was planted at the back of the valley. The wood proved unsuitable as lumber, and the surviving trees are seen in many of the photos below.
In recent years, older homes have been rebuilt or upgraded. Most home sites are about a quarter of an acre, and the older trees and lack of sidewalks present a feeling of rural countryside.
Location
Quiet, rural, and close to everything: Minutes to Highway 101 and San Francisco, 10 minutes to Muir Beach, 20 minutes to Stinson Beach and on to Point Reyes. Close by the new Good Earth Market, and a short trip to downtown Mill Valley.
Little City Farms has a diversity of homes styles built from the early 1920’s to present day. Many houses are smaller cottages, yet to be improved. Lots are large and houses well separated.
